Growing up in Southern California, I acquired a love for creative media and unique storytelling. This passion is what compelled me to attend the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland.
At the University of Maryland, I was a member of the ViewFinder photojournalist team. As a member of this team, I produced natural sound documentaries. A month following the Parkland, Florida shooting a group of middle school girls from Baltimore organized their school to protest gun violence in their city. The ViewFinder photojournalist team documented this group through their entire process of planning and executing the school protest. As the lead producer and video editor of this project, I sorted through hundreds of video clips and multiple interviews. The entire post-production process took over a month.
My experience as a producer and photojournalist for ViewFinder Documentaries gave me the experience I needed in order to land my first internship at ABC 10News in my hometown, San Diego, California. I used the skills I acquired with ViewFinder while reporting for the station’s web team. As a member of the web team, I had the opportunity to document and report on the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con, one of the largest entertainment conventions in the world. During this event, I used a DSLR camera to take still images and video for the San Diego Comic-Con section of the 10News website and mobile app.
After working for KGTV, I earned a production internship at the ABC network Washington, D.C. bureau. During my internship, I used Avid Media Composer to edit clips for hundreds of ABC owned and affiliated stations. I assisted in the production of the ABC Newsone reporter live shots for the 2019 State of the Union. These live shots were broadcasted to ABC owned and affiliated stations across the United States.
After graduating from the University of Maryland, I landed a position as an Associate Producer at Fox News Channel in Washington, D.C. Working as an Associate Producer on the media desk at Fox has allowed me to master my skills in multimedia, as well as collaborate with other journalists to improve storytelling at the network. I believe my variety of experiences in the news industry has given me a knack for creative, modern, and compelling storytelling.
